With Love & Gratitude

The tradition of sharing with refugee and Michigan families during the holidays is taking place for the 27th year at Cedar Crest Academy.  Beautiful people, all of us.  We hope to make lives better with food, household/ health aids and gifts.  In the early years, a few staff members would go midnight shopping after a festive staff celebration. What fun wheeling carts filled with this and that!  Later, my own children selected useful and joyful gifts for our adopted families.  CCA families have shared heartwarming stories of meeting their new friends, going to their homes, eating cultural foods and one year the rendezvous of a forgotten box.  We have carted the decorated boxes and handmade cards in trucks, vans and stuffed cars to their destination.  The opportunity to share our blessings with local families is valuable to us and the strong arms of students, JK – Grade 8, a welcome labor.  How proud our students are of the mounting heap of needed items in their classroom, which will disappear into good hands.  For the youngest of us, it is an unknown story to learn the difference between “needs” and “wants”.  Oh, the lessons to be learned.

We are grateful for the happy, healthy children that parents bring to school each day.  They are filled with their needs to be able to access their personal happiness, strength and capability.  It all begins with your efforts and together we are a partnership of possibility for many more.  We wish that opportunity for all young people!  We can make a difference.

With love and gratitude,

Bette D. Moen, Director

FROM SUMMER BUBBLES TO POSSIBILITY

The bubbles of our lives take on clarity, color and hope in the summer, for both children and adults. Take a look at your bubbles this summer to assess and create possibility.

• Is learning inspiring, challenging and maturing?
• Is there the color of imagination, physical activity and culture in your life?
• Are you rejuvenated for self-discipline, thought, and change?

Tell me about your bubbles!
